That's a nice looking rifle, has it been redone or is that original finish?

Thanks Brownie. It looks like it is original finish. The Indians used to paint these with a thick black paint with no regards to "quality", just get it covered to protect it from rust. Unfortunately, any collector factor has been trashed because the receiver was D&T (a couple of times

). But, I bought it to take shooting and not worry about damaging the collector value. I can't wait to put some match ammo or eventually reloads through it to see how it really shoots. Seams to like heavier bullets according to the PO.

Got it, I've seen em painted like that but that one seems exceptional and not beat up/scratched much.

I think you'll be surprised how accurate that puppy can be, keep us posted
