Using grease on 1911s is kinda a personal thing and something you might want to experiment with...
Personally, I just clean and lube my 1911s and don't use grease. If you talk with any of the 'custom' 1911 shops (Les Baer, Ed Brown, Nighthawk, etc) they definitely DO NOT recommend using grease on their pistolas... so that tells me something! Again, you may want to experiment and see what works for you. .
