After zeroing an Aimpoint and function testing the little Sig .380, I went back into the store to see what pistols were on the shelves. They've had a few Rocks, but they've always been 9mms.

A new but badly scratched up 5" Tactical model with smooth wood grips came out first with a price tag of $550 hanging off it. I told the salesman he'll need to knock quite a bit off the price to sell that one.

The next one out was a nearly flawless 5" Tactical .45 Auto model with rubber grips. I flipped the tag over to see a price of $440. I quickly checked barrel/slide/frame fit, dropped the hammer a couple times, and all was good, so I bought it.

I'll post a quick pic in a few minutes.

It's good to be back.

I really did miss this place.

I like it so far, and I haven't even shot it yet.

I field stripped it and lubed it up for a range trip that'll happen on Tuesday night.

I ended up going with black VZ double diamonds for grips.

I've thoroughly upgraded it, and here's a lousy phone photo of it.

While wasting time today (on vacation out of town), I went to a gun store to check on powder/primers and walked out with a .45 TAC 1911 II.

Those are actually the VZs. They are far from attractive, but I sure like how they feel.

I will be adding wood grips at some point.
