You are simply experiencing a "Lefty Moment".

Watched a fella at an indoor range long time ago, he was wearing a cowboy type hat and catching the brass in the top cavity portion of his hat. I was indeed impressed and halted my shooting to observe and admire the old fellas dexterity. Could be a possible solution to consider
