My first shooting experience was with an M14 at Parris Island in 1966. To me, it's picture is in my mental dictionary next to the definition of the word "Rifle".

Marched, ran, did bayonet drills with that rifle. FIRST LOVE!

My son in law was in the sandbox doing recon and his unit was using M-14's, it was preferred over the M-16...........why shoot twice?
