Just a little story:
When I was 8, a neighbor friend and I had decided to join the Marines together when we "grew up," being that his dad was a Marine, and we both thought that was just the coolest thing. He was a couple years behind me, so I was going to wait after high school for him to finish. Cut to 12 years later, and I got hurt playing in a football game (hit twice in the gonads HARD) and ended up getting a biopsy done. Turns out it was cancer, and my friend joined without me. After a few years of recovery and testing, etc, the Gulf War was getting started, and even though I was not in the same shape I was in before, I tried to enlist in the Army. I was turned down because I had gained too much weight during those years. I was disappointed, but totally understood. So even though I never got to serve, I've always had a place in my heart for those who did, and currently do. So I just became a mechanic, worked on cars, and shot my guns, bored to tears most of the time. Maybe that's why I'm constantly searching for something I don't have already. Seems I have this hole I can't fill.

I spent 20 years in the ARNG, Air Force Reserves, and Air Force. Since then, I have done various machining jobs. Now, with the help of the VA, I am a student. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

In the 1970s, I was a Corpman and Drug/Alcohol Abuse Counselor in the Air Force, which gave me the misguided idea to go to graduate school for social work. For the last 32 years, I have been a Clinical Social Worker. From 1997until I retired in 2010, I worked with service members and their families. (I have been credentialed at both Walter Reed and NNMC-Bethesda.) This included post deployment combat veterans. (I hold additional certification for working with victims of trauma.) I also served in the Army Reserve as a Social Work Officer, retiring in 2004.
![]() Since retiring in 2010, I do some part time EAP work (telephone counseling) for Carebridge Inc. I am also involved with The Soldier's Project, on a voluntary basis. http://thesoldiersprojectpa.org/ ![]()

After five years in the Navy I got a job in the fire department at the NASA Plum Brook Station research facility in Sandusky, Ohio. After sixteen years that led to middle management (supervisor, section manager) for twenty more years. Then I spent my last three years in the Infrastucture Engineering office as an Engineering Technician. That totaled 39 years, all for private contractors.
I've been retired for six years but I keep active at our local gun club (membership just under 1,000) as a range officer. http://eriecountycl.com/ And I'm still having fun! ![]() |

Went in the Air Force right out of High School, served a tour in SEA, Instructed at Keesler, got out and joined the Air Guard. Spent twenty more years there(Ground Radio, Satt-Comm, Inside Wire, Small-Arms Spec, Quality Control), retired as a Master Sgt in 90. During that time I was employed at a Large Jet-Engine Factory in Evendale, Ohio. Retired from there after thirty years in 2010. Had a Gunsmithing shop for about 12 years also.

Graduated H.S. in 1970, and and signed up in the military like most evertbody else. U.S. Navy 1970-73 Corpsman, loved it, but became a civy again. Have been installing in the interior design bussiness for close to 30yrs. Hope to retire sometime soon.
