Default Fit For a Texas Wedding

Sent this one out the other day to the best man, so he can pass it along to the groom. AIWB for a 5 inch 1911 with a liner, matching belt, and a lined mag carrier, all with a touch of elephant skin. I cannot wrap my head around AIWB though. I don't think I could appendix carry an LCP comfortably.

Yeah, it's comfortable until you want to sit or bend over for any reason.

Riverusmc,

Do you carry in the appendix position? I carry a 5 inch IWB as well, but certainly can't appendix carry it. I carry mine at the 3:00-3:30 range with a 30 degree rake on the holster. I'm a bit odd in carrying that much rake in that position of course, although it's surprisingly not that slow on the draw, as one would think. Sure hides the grip well though.

First very nice rig sir.

Second I too carry full size IWB more in summer than winter but its not bad. I am a lefty but wear it at 7-8 ish position and its not bad, if you have a good holster and wear often you get used to it fairly quickly. The key is a great belt holster combination and getting it to a spot that is not hard on the "love handles"

I personally think that carrying OWB is a little more comfortable, but certainly don't find IWB to be uncomfortable at all. Since the AZ weather, and the clothing that goes with that requires me to carry IWB, that's what I do. I used to carry further back like you sdmc530 (around the 4:00 maybe as much as 4:30), but have since moved forward as it hides the grip better. Neither the best man who bought this for his friend, nor I, can fathom carrying a 5 inch 1911 in the appendix position, either IWB or OWB. Forget the LCP I mentioned above, I doubt I could carry a Zippo in that position! Not a big deal since I don't smoke (I did used to collect Zippos though)

I don't have a problem carrying a full size 1911 IWB.

Hi Sheepdog,

Again, I carry a full size 1911 myself IWB. I'm talking about carrying it in the appendix position (between 12:30-1:30 or so on a righty.) That I cannot wrap my head around. I've tried it using dummies of small pistols like the LCP, Sig P938 (want one of those so bad) etc, and even those aren't comfortable to me in that position. It's somewhat popular, but I sure can't do it. It's OK until I bend over or sit.

I agree.

I have no problem carrying IWB (usually a 3:00); but have less than NO interest in carrying AIWB.
