Default The Okeechobee Marshals Meet 05 /12/12

Well Howdy Cowboy Fans, I come to you from the Okeechobee Marshals, this past Saturday.
It had been raining for the past few days so the thought of a Saturday match was up in the air...But as the Cowboy Gods looked down on us and said, Ok, you want to shoot, Go ahead and shoot.
The sky cleared, a nice breed and temps in the low 80's. Could not be better.
We had a good turn out so we set up two posses, I was not with my regular posse, and a slight pain in my back, I was a little off my game.
The first three stages were as if I never held a gun, especially since a twisted a little to much during my cross draw and I heard a snap (so did ever one else), but being a competitor I tightened my belt and continued to shoot (should have done that earlier) and shot the best scores on my last two stages. It seemed that there were a lot of Cowpokes off their game and the scores over all were not great. But we had a lot of Fun and that is the most important part.

And now on with the images from yesterday.

The Okeechobee Marshals

Those are fantastic pictures, but it looks like the targets would be very hard to miss! Mike

Not as easy as it seems when the timer is running on you and you are shooting 4 guns, each stage is set up in very specific order ( L-R, C_L_R, R-c-r_L) etc. If you miss the order you get a 10 sec. Penalty. 5 sec for a mike , The distance is different on each stage and so are the targets..
. Remember you are shooting single action. Shot gun can not have auto ejectors. The Lever Actions are 10 rounds and also in specific order. Once you start a stage, you go from two holstered guns, to shot gun to leaver or what ever the order for the stage is. But you are welcome to come and try.
Thanks for the nice comments on the photos.

Great Pics Gary.............

But I have a few questions for you about the Ole West:

1) Did they have Gun Carts back then?
2) when they had shoot outs did they really use ear and eye protection????????

Probably Not........

Well it is like this, If they had eye and ear protection, more of them would be alive today

We use carts because they don't let us take pure Horses near the range

And they wished they had carts
