Default M1 Edgamacation

Guys, I'm an M1 Mechanic. Shot both Service-Rifle and High-Power with the M1 Garand. Have been repairing/ modifying for Match and restoring for almost 25 years. I maintained the AFPG Garands for my ANG units' rifle-team for eight years.

If you have any questions/problems with your Garand, hit me up.
Dave

I wish I would have known that a few months ago. I've been having short stroking issues with mine with handloads using 4064, Varget, & H4895 since I got it.

A few days ago, I pulled the action out of the stock and noticed the parkerizing beginning to wear off the bottom of the op rod, where there is some contact with the sling swivel band (whatever that parts' called). I took some material off the band to eliminate all contact. I'll shoot it again this weekend to see if that allows it to cycle with proper powders.

Tubbs, some of the best Service-Grades ever are coming out of the CMP now, Greek AF Returns, alot of them hardly-used. Ask for a post-war HRA or SA.
, it's probably the Op-Rod spring.
, no problem. Ask away friend.

Thanks Dave. Once I finally get moved and some good income coming in I will look into getting one. American Rifleman went to the CMP and did a tour/expo on the CMP. Pretty interesting.
