Default Hey Mary, Let's play Cowboys and Indians

Okay, here's the draw I was trying to explain in the chat. First, go back to when you were a kid, this look familiar?

This is the basis of your draw, believe it or not. When you reach for the gun, wrap the bottom three fingers around the grip, trigger finger along the holster, thumb on top of the Hammer, like this.

As you pull the gun out your thumb rolls to the inside and down, like this.

Now, your thumb is resting on the thumb-safety but, your Triggerfinger is still along the frame of the gun, at this time your support hand is on the frame starting to complete your grip. like this.

Now, you have a complete draw with your triggerfinger where it's supposed to be,along the frame until you gain target acquisition and move it to the trigger, like this

There ya go, the infamous Cowboys and Indians draw as shown me by El Jefe.

BTW, please excuse the kitten-scarred hands.

Dave, that's the same way I draw my pistol, except with the other hand . I didn't know it was a big secret, it's just how I drew a pistol the very first time.

I'm glad you didn't pull a Tex Grebner and shoot yourself in the leg cowboy

Nice play-by-play photos. Did you take those with a video camera?

Thanks Dave!! That thumb forward grip (instead of 90 degrees difference) made all the difference in the world! What a small yet extremely effective fix! The following two days went very well!

And here I was thinking this thread would be about Cowboy Action Shooting. Nice sequence of photos with the explanation.
