Alharbi has been at the center of debate after he was reportedly set to be deported under section 212 3B of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) – “Security and related grounds” – “Terrorist activities,” following the bombing
He had earlier been flagged on a Terrorist Watch list, yet was admitted into the country on a student visa. His file was mysteriously altered the following day, the deportation order was rescinded and his status was changed. On Thursday Janet Nepolitano testified before Congress: Quote:

Well, in contradiction to that ugly hag, the local newspaper stated that two individuals in New Bedford were taken into custody for violating their stay in the U.S. They were apprehended as a result of a sweep of the college (UMass. Dartmouth) where Suspect #2 was a student, and some apartments in New Bedford of people he associated with.
