Stripping Her Down to the Frame
This is a link that "Hoss" gave me and I thought others may want to see it to. Its is very well done and you can go at your own pace, which makes it better than a video.
So for those brave souls (actually its pretty easy) here tiz: http://how-i-did-it.org/detail-1911/field_strip.html Have at it!!!

Very nice, clear and concise. I gotta print this. I've been wary of taking one apart for fear it'd be apart a long time.
Thanks, Jim

Chief has sent me two very good manuals. The level of detail in parts and names is excellent.
But this is designed to help you get it a part and back together spacifically.

After a week and a half of basically no firearm access, I'll be trearing my 1911s down after I get home.
I plan to use the How I Did It documents.

Yeah, it's not tough. But the diagrams make it a lot easier.

I took that "BIG STEP" last night and stripped mine, It was a lot easier then i thought, with the help of (moral support) and Dave Waits who made sure i had done the safety checks, and the link posted made it less stressful.
