Is a rifle the "right choice" for HD?
Komo News - Homowner shoots/kills intruder near Brown's Point (Washington St.)...
This would seem like a normal HD/SD scenario, save for the article mentioning that the homeowner used a "high powered rifle" and killed the intruder with only one shot... and, the bullet ended up in an SUV "across the street." Thankfully, no one else injured other than the intruder. I'm gathering the message the MSM wants to send is that a "high powered rifle" is excessive for HD. Discuss.... |

If it's your only option then, no. But, I prefer a good old 12g or a handgun. Then again, I live in a condo with neighbors all around. I would hate a rifle round penetrating thier home and possibly injuring an innocent bystander .

You are responsible for collateral damage.
I think a MOAB would be appropriate self defense to Pig. I could be wrong.

Rifle if all you have its all you have but no I don't believe its the best option. First up is probably a 12g.....but I use a pistol. A rifle round will go long ways through walls....that is bad.

Consider frangible ammo. It was mandated at the indoor range I was a member of in Connecticut for rifle rounds. Going into the human body, it imparts all its energy at the same time. AKA... "makes a mess inside". But if it hits a wall, it might get through one sheet of sheet rock before it breaks up. Much better round for apartment/condo dweller IMHO.

Pistol for me as well, I'm well trained and can maneuver much easily with pistol in hand. I don't own a shotty or a black rifle.

Basic rule, know your target and what's behind it.
