XDS It just runs
Howdy Folks,
I picked up a Springfield XDS pistol today and am favorably impressed after 150 rounds of various stuff. Out of the box, the pistol was well lubed with a light oil. It sure is thin, measuring 1" across with a 3.3" barrel and a grip that holds 5 rounds of 45 flush. Gun came with 2x 5 round mags, kydex paddle holster, and dual vertical mag carrier. The accessories are adequate, but don't exactly exude quality or refinement. It is nice to have a holster while you find one you really like. I purchased a 7 round extended mag, which includes a grip extension that approximates a govt length grip. The gun also has an additional back strap for different hand sizes. First shots through the gun were hornady TAP 230gr +P. I shot a ragged 1 hole group at 7 yards. Recoil is quite snappy with the +p but tolerable. I shot the second group with the extended mag which gives more control over the gun under recoil. It is reminiscent of my CBOB with full power 10mm loads (Doubletap, underwood, etc.) the group from this mag was another ragged hole. Trigger is like a Glock with a short reset kit. I'm guessing it is around the 6-8 lb range with a nice short reset and predictable release. The sight radius is the limiting factor for long range accuracy, but I was still able to keep 5 rounds inside a 5" circle at 25 yds. The sights are 2 white dots in back and a fiber optic front. Very visible and easy to pick up. I put 3 different defensive rounds through it, Hornady TAP, Corbon DPX, and 230gr Golden saber. I also put 100 rounds of plated 230 gr RN over 5.6gr of 231 through it. In 150 total rounds, there were zero malfunctions of any type. I couldn't make it not work. I think this is going to be a regular carry for me with the extended mag and an additional 7 round mag in my Horizontal MagHolder.

Now that's what I call a dirty picture! But did you really shoot 1100 rounds without cleaning it? Why?
