Default LW Commander in 38 Super

I have embarked on a restoration project ... on a really cool Colt LW Commander from 1968 in 38 Super. Here is what I started with ... it was really nice but ... well ... not up to my standards.

I have since fit a new ... well ... everything. C&S fire controls, S&A GS, Brown and EGW stuff and a Storm Lake barrel. The finish is TriTanium CeraHide from my pals at CCR. Grips are from Sarge (but destined for my 10mm project so they are just there for show). Still need sights and a long plug to work with the OS bushing. Also still need to blast all of the stainless pieces to match (brushed finish). The best part ... I didn't modify the frame or slide hardly at all and I saved all of the original parts so if I ever wanted to put it back to original, I could ... with a proper refinish (anodize frame and blue everything else). I have some minor fitting and polishing left to do but she is pretty close. I will test fire for function this weekend. Report to follow. Here is a little preview.

I may have been away for a little bit but I've kept busy ... my 10mm project is close to (finally) being wrapped up too. Frame is due back from EGW with 25 LPI front strap checkering this week.

The biggest pain in the a** you'll probably ever have to deal with watches you from the mirror every morning.

Good judgment comes from experience, and most of that comes from bad judgment.

Summertime is tournament time for me ... Sporting Clays every weekend. It's getting colder though so I can spend more time with my 1911s. Oh ... and work ... that gets in the way too!

Nice looking piece you have there. I had a Colt Commander in .38 Super, sure do regret not having it now.
