Israeli Olive Range Report
At the request of AutoMag, I took a trip to the range today to try out the Israeli Olive grips. I already knew the results, but I put the grips on my old Taurus. I hadnt shot the gun in over a year and needed to do some fine tuning to the sights. So I loaded up about 250 rounds in the range bag and headed out.
At the range, I was reminded why I love this crappy old Taurus. It just shoots damn good. I was shooting next to a guy that had a very nice Sig 1911 Traditional Match Elite and I was admiring his gun. When we started shooting, I was dead on at 15 yards offhand. Just center punching the targets. I noticed the guy with the Sig was shooting shotgun patterns with his $1000 gun while I was shooting lasers with my $600 Taurus. I caught him eyeing my gun on more than one occasion, but I didn't say anything. I was shooting my "sweetheart" reloads and they just barely cycle the slide. As far as the grips, I didn't notice that they were even a factor. The Taurus has checkering on both the front and back straps and that is the most important part in terms of gripping surface. Smooth grips really have no effect on my shooting. I might want checkering on a magnum caliber, but not a 1911. Needless to say, I was shooting great and had a great day. Man those grips look great on that Taurus.
What kind of finish is on that gun? Whatever it is, the contrast with the grips is nigh on perfect. And good shooting, too! Thanks for the range report. Tom

Great shots, Olympus! Just curious, do you ever make grips for 1911 Officer's frames?
