Default Ruger LC9

There was a little money burning a hole in my pocket, and since my Solo won't be here for another couple of months, I decided to pick one of these up. Had I had to pay full price it would not have happened, but being friends with a few FFLs usually pays dividends. $349 is what I got it for. They are selling for $429 locally because nobody can get enough of them in at this point.

I have not had a chance to take it to the range yet, so these are just basic initial impressions:

The trigger is much better than its LCP predecessor. It is still long, but not as heavy and quite a bit smoother.

The 3 dot sights are a vast improvement over the LCP and are very easy to pick up.

The safety is pretty much uselss, imho. Yes, it's an added safety feature, but with such a long trigger pull, it probably will see little to no use from me.

The grip is a little blocky for my tastes, similar to the old S&Ws. It most certainly has to do with the fact this is supposed to be a pocket pistol and not a range gun. It is not necessarily uncomfortable, just not necessarily comfortable, either. With the texturing io the back and front strap you are able to get a pretty decent grip on it. Also, the pinky extension is a trmendous help on getting a firm grip.

It only comes with one mag.....Why, oh why, does anyone sell a pistol with only one mag??

It has the well known irritating loaded chamber indicator and legal jargon molded into the side of the polymer receiver.

Disassembly is very straight forward and easily accomplished.

I sold my LCP, so I cannot give a good comparison on size difference. However, it seems to be about 3/4" longer, the same height, and about 1/2" wider than my M&P9c.

For those who are interested, holster for Kahr 9s should fit this pistol.

Overall, it seems like a decent little pistol for the purpose which it is to serve. A range report MAY follow when I get to shoot it.....unless I get too lazy......

Beautiful pics! Thank you for the report. I would love to hear how it shoots.

Nice, . I have a LCP and I really like it. Like you said, they are good for what they are supposed to be used for: pocket pistols.
