Question Colt Python. 4 inch Blued. Built 1977

OK, here we go, I have an opportunity to buy a Colt Python 4 inch barrel, blued, from a guy I know. Good Man. It's in Very Good Shape. For a 1977 built gun, it's real nice, It has been fired a lot, but the action is really smooth and light. It's in time. Has original grips and a Pachmayr grip. No Box or papers.
Guy wants $2000.00. I think that is a good price. Is it? If were to grade it, I'd say 90%. The finish is Very Good, the action is very good. Has some wear on the frame in front of the cylinder, but not abnormal.
Never handled one before, but the action in double action is very light and smooth. I think that is Normal for these hand fitted wheel guns?
Opinions appreciated! I am conflicted about buying it.
Please help Me out here guys
Thanks!

If you can afford it, then go for it. How much it is worth on something like that is really in the eye of the beholder.

So, first assumption; 357? quick check on big sites is $2400.00 to $4000. Don't think you can go wrong at 2K. If it feels smooth and lite in hand and looks to be good shape for its age... Don't snooze!

Yes, 357 Magnum. Needs a good cleaning, but that is Easy!
The Double Action is Very Light in comparison to my King Cobra, but I suspect it's because of the hand fitting and different main spring, leaf spring.

at 2K I think that's a pretty decent price. Those are always a good buy in good shape, great valued guns really.

Cleaning is easy, if that is all it really needs I don't see how you can go wrong.

I had a chance to buy a brand new Python in 1977 and decided to go cheap and get a Ruger Security Six instead. As I recall the MSRP was around $500 then for the Python. Adjusted for inflation, that is over $2,200 now, so in effect you will be getting it for below MSRP.
