Buenos Aires, Argentina...Beautiful City, lots of people, culture, delicious food - excellent beef. Knifes and Knifemakers.

Several times when my wife traveled to Buenos Aires to visit her son she would go meet with Ruben Calo, a local knife maker in Buenos Aires and buy me a knife.

The first time I went to BA with here we went to Ruben's home where he showed me his shop and what existing inventory of knives he had. I bought a butterfly knife he made and then he gifted me an Argentine Chef's knife; one of the first knives he made. Little did we know that within 6-8 months he would succumb to lung cancer.

Here's the Balisong he made:

and here's the chef's knife:

Rick - I can see them...you couldn't!

Fixed. I had copied "attachments" from another discussion forum.

Voorhis "Big" Chute Style Knife. A knife designed to help a pilot or member of the Airborne to extricate themselves from a tree or other situation. Voorhis's chute knife is a lot bigger then most.

Another Ruben Calo Knife. My wife brought this very large slip-joint folder home from Argentina for me! The scales are cow bone.

I don't know who "M" is but they did a really good job of making some nice sized daggers using antique Mother of Pearl Fruit Knife Handles:
