US Army getting soft????
From "For God and Country..." US Army ditches Grenade Throwing requirement because recruits can't throw far enough...
OK, what is that particular requirement? How far should a soldier be able to throw one (I assume at least far enough to keep it from causing any damage to the thrower and those around the thrower...)??? |

15 yard blast radius. If they can't throw it that far, they have no business fathering children. The world is turning into digital dumbasses

What happened to recycling? If you couldn't meet the requirements by the end of Basic ing, they would send you back to Day One to start it all over again. When I was in Basic (1970) we had an individual, who was in his 3rd cycle of Basic. He was a biomechanical marvel in relation to upper body strength, as he had none. At the end of his 3rd cycle (#2 was a PT Flight) he could not do 3 correct pushups. As he was going into computers anyway, he magically graduated.
This sounds like the military equivalent of a participation award. Basic soldiers shouldn't have to throw those nasty grenades anyway. (That's sarcasm sparky) Any question that the inmates are running the asylum?

Well, I threw my first one too far, then held back just a bit with the second to put it inside the tire.
I can’t imagine anyone that's ever heard/felt/seen a grenade explode would have any problem throwing it far enough!

They’re what? 18-19? And they can’t throw it 15 yards. That’s pretty sad

... Give them all a grenade throwing trophy, it will get all better. Just another result of the pussification of America.
