I used butcher block.....rock solid. Mine has adjustable feet but its about 40" tall I guess. Works out perfectly for my height and with the handle on my press.

I got the 4 drawer workbench from Harbor Freight tools.

It is 3/4" wood, but I made a 1.5" reliading stand that is secured by the built in vice.

mine is a "Universal Power tool stand" from home depot. Has a 32" height. I took off the included top, and replaced it with two layers of 3/4" oak plywood. My stand has a metal shelf underneath, so I didn't bother to replace the cheap fiberboard. On the unit below, I would definitely replace the fiberboard with 3/4 plywood.

On top of the new table (which measures 16 x 36") I added a 6 x 20 x 12" high steel loading bench riser, which I got from Berry's at the Nashville NRA convention a couple years back. It's called a Berry's Bench Topper.

So.... my turret press and powder measure are mounted at a height of 43-44" which is a perfect height for me!

this is what I was going to do, you can get off size pieces at the local box store pretty cheap but then my brother wanted to do a hard wood top and that was that.

2 layers of 3/4" plywood.

My first bench was just an old heavy dining table. You know, the kind they don't make anymore, that takes two people to move.
