Default AD caught on film

Wow, this is truly an AD, booger hook was nowhere near the bang switch.

RO is a class act by turning the situation into a learning lesson and not going ape sheet on the shooter.

Glad he called another shooter to the line. That guy needs to have his weapon examined by a gunsmith. Scary stuff.

That could have been scary...yes but because of proper discipline and training it was just a bad discharge. The instructor handled that PERFECT....don't go nuts, don't call out the guy but use it as a learning tool and that class learned something great from that bad event.

I do hope the gun was checked because it should not have happened but it did and does.

Best part it was recorded and can now be used as a training video. What I think I liked also was the instructor was paying attention to the shooter and knew what had happened instead of just blaming him for putting his finger on the trigger.

The shooter did all the right moves to be safe, therefor no one got hurt. The RO is a great one by using this as a training excercise instead of jumping all over that guy. Well done on both parts.

Saw this a while back. I think the clapping is a bit over the top.

And I find it difficult to believe the woman who also says she saw his finger nowhere the trigger could actually see that.

Screen shot. She's ten feet behind both men and off angle. Not sure how she saw anything?

That was most likely "trigger bounce" caused by either too heavy a trigger (reason they make skeletonized triggers) or too light or short of a trigger pull, or a combination thereof.

The match director of an IDPA match I was in had that happen to him on one of the stages and he had to disqualify himself from the match. In his case it was because he had the trigger pull down to ounces.

Great handling of the situation from everyone involved.

Debris in the firing pin channel (brass shavings, powder fouling, lint, etc) can make the firing pin become stuck out and upon releasing the slide on a chambered round, slam fire! Detail strip regularly used guns on a regular basis and DO NOT OIL OR LUBRICATE THE FP CHANNEL as the oil acts like a magnet for particles.
