Default Project "Dirty Hands"

I purposely purchased this 1911 so, that I can get my hands dirty with some smithin'. I did not want to start filing, sanding, grinding, ect on an expensive 1911 so, I bought this. It's a Tisas (Turkey made) sold from Bud's. Got it for $450ish with one 8rd Mec-Gar mag. I have read nothing but good reviews on this pistol (although, not many out there) and hope it was a wise choice. I have a list of mods/enhancements I want to do to this thing but, first things first. I will give it a good break-in with as many different types of ammo as possible before I change anything on it. Here are some (lots, lol) pictures as shipped from the factory.

First impression..............not bad. The slide to frame fit is pretty tight with very little movement up and down, I'm sure it will loosen up a bit after it gets shot a bunch. The beaver tail fit is .....ok. MSH fit is tight with no wiggle but, as you can see in the pics.....the bottom has a big gap. Not worried about that because, that is something that will get changed later. The barrel bushing fits nice and snug although, I can still field strip with only my hands (no bushing tool needed). The sights are a nice three dot as seen on most EDC pistols. I will upgrade them to a target style later. The trigger...well, it sucks. The pull weight is averaging around 6lbs......ugh! The trigger also moves up and down as well as side to side quite a bit. That will be changed for sure. The magwll has no bevel in it so, the mags are a bit difficult to change fast (at least for me). The mag release is also a bit stiff and I have to really push on it to release the mags. Not sure if it just needs break in or the spring needs to be lightened. Over all, I am happy so far. The finish is excellent and looks "tactical". Has a flat look to it and was applied nicely. These pics do not do it justice. That's it for now.....dinner calls so, I gotta go. Will update once I get some rounds through it.
