Dave and I were chatting the other night about working on pistols. He posted a picture of a firing pin stop he did so I thought I'd post my first attempt at parts fitting (sort of).
Springfield GI. Added a S&A beavertail. Used the jig that they offer. I'm happy with how it turned out. I think my frame tangs are not even because one side hade more metal taken off than the other, I think it shows in the photos. On the right side, the frame lines line up better with the safety lines better than the left side. I didn't refinish it yet because I have other things I want to get done to it. I just keep it well oiled. After I got it fit to the frame, I did all of the safety/function tests and everything worked fine. I didn't have to do any "internal" fitting. That made me a little nervous so I took a couple of mags outside and only loaded two rounds in each in case something wasn't quite right. It worked fine, as far as I could tell. Since I installed it, I have shot 450 rounds through it with no problems. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Take it easy on the criticism, I'm sensitive ![]() Take care, Terry

Dave, you're welcome to borrow my frame tang jig anytime you like. I have an Ed Brown (250 radius) and Smith and Alexander (220 radius) .l.t.a. |

Looks good. How long did it take? What file(s) did you use? I bought an Ed Brown beavertail and jig for my Springfield MilSpec, and haven't had the guts to start on it...
