I started my girls at 5. I bought them a Chipmunk 22, kid sized very safe bolt action.

Chimpmunk is good, I got Kaden a Cricket .22. Same deal, bolt action single shot but you have to manually pull the bolt back every time before it will fire....good kid rifle....

I bought my son's cricket before he was 10months old. He enjoys that thing. As Joe stated my son also has shot at age 3 and I was standing there holding the rifle with him. I remember shooting with my dad at the age of 3 or so as well.

I was thinking about starting with an airsoft pistol if I could find one small enough. I am afraid the noise of live fire will be an issue for her.

At some point I want to get one of those Browning 22 1911's and throw on some pink grips for her. They are the perfect size.

My son has been shooting a Red Ryder compliments of the Col. He loves that thing. Always where hearing protection that will help with noise. Start out with a .22 caliber and you can pick up some cb rounds or Aguilla makes a super colibri .22 short. Fires a smaller 20gr bullet by just the primer. So they are quiet and also accurate for starters. Here is a link.

Midway is out of them but they may be found at cabelas is bass pro. Best of luck with the journey.

I have to admit; I saw the title, coming from where I presumed to be KY, and was relieved to see it was about shooting!

The Browning .22 1911'a have been buggin' me too, but $500 has stopped me so far. Any .22 short, shot out of a rifle, barely makes a crack noise, won't scare her.

Hahaha... I was waiting for it....especially with this crowd, saw that coming from my intro post!!!!

I will have to try the .22 shorts. I have a Beretta Bobcat in .22, I may let her handle it, to see if she can pull the trigger.

She knows all about hearing protection, been wearing muffs while I cut the grass, riding with me on riding mower!!
