Walmart refuses LEO's retirement cake

Here is the article Drudge is linking to, which is from the Macon GA paper (Macon is just down the road from McDonough). I think it is a bit more candid...

The cake she originally asked for had an American Flag and a blue line. When they refused to make that cake, she asked for a plain chocolate cake with just a blue line on it, and they refused to make that too! She went to Kroger and had the cake made there (apparently without incident)

Taylor Wilkes, a Georgia police officer and family friend, originally posted about the cake incident on Facebook early Friday morning, criticizing the store for their “appalling” behavior.

Wilkes said the gesture appeared to be a response to public pressure rather than true atonement.

“I think he just did that because, thanks to you all, this got so much attention, and he didn't want it to go farther than it did,” Wilkes wrote. “The way the meeting was described to me was that it was very scripted and not very sincere.”

“So, although the mistake was ‘made right,’ I will still not be shopping at Walmart due to the ‘quality’ of employees they hire,” Wilkes added.
