Thanks everyone. I belong to other forums, but only shared this info with with you guys, as I trust each and every one of you, even though we've never met.

Brandon will be fine, he comes from a long line of servicemen; both his grandfathers, his mom & I and at least one uncle. At least in my mind I was a fine soldier

I will keep everyone updated on his progress from boot camp to AIT to first duty station.

Thanks again family,

God bless.

A gun is a tool, no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.

And shepherds we shall be, for Thee, my Lord, for Thee.
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti.

My dad's last words to me as I got on the train for the New Haven CT AAFES station..... "Do NOT volunteer. Ever." His take on it was that if you did volunteer, you would be seen as a kiss ass, or that the job would be terrible. I pretty much followed his advice, with one exception. I volunteered for a "Mobility Team"... which put me in the back of a C-130 with an M16 between my legs in November, 1979 (Tehran hostage crisis if you remember). We didn't have to go, but I was a short timer.... was getting out on terminal leave December 15th. But I'm glad I ignored his advice. I got to shoot almost every small arm in the US and USSR inventory!

Keep your head down, your mag full and pray daily. Your soul belongs to God, but your ass belongs to the military.

Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed one." - Thomas Jefferson quoting Cesare Beccaria
