Less weight than a 94, compatible with two revolvers I have in the same caliber, no felt recoil, less money in ammo costs [ which gives me more ammo to practice with ], near 30-30 ballistics with 357 "heavies" to 50 yrds.

There's probably more advantage, but that will suffice for now. In fact I traded a 1958 94 with Lyman peep for the gun and 200 rds of ammo for this gun. I wouldn't shoot 1K 30-30 in 5 years. Presently, I've got 200 rds through this one and it's going to Ca. this weekend for another 200-300 hundred. More shooting, less safe sitting all around.

Appreciate everyone/s thoughts. If you want a pic of the gun, google will bring up several pages of the M92 Rossi

I have a Winchester 1892 reproduction made by Miroku. Caliber is 38-40 and matches a pair of Vaqueros I have as well. I have only been able to take it to about 50 yards but it is pretty damn accurate. I don't remember what the breakdown was at 25 yards and 50 yards. I would need to check my notes. I reload for the 38-40 and use wheel weight fast bullets and Trail Boss. Gets pretty cheap to shoot with reloads but not if I had to buy factory. The 38-40 load was a workhorse for all round shooting back in the day.

A pistol caliber lever gun is on my list but I do have an RG4570S that I love shooting but don't get to shoot enough lately. The RG series can be problematic until you work them over good, but then most lever guns are like that, even pre-2005 Marlins. Like Gatorade, I'm setup to reload 45-70 or I'd not be able to afford shooting it.

I suppose one could try to argue that since the Magnum Research BR45-707 and similar revolvers came onto the market, the 45-70 is now also a pistol cartridge, but I'm not buying it (the revolver or the idea)!

I had an original Model 92 rifle with octagonal barrel in 38-40.

It held either 15 or 17 rounds (can't remember now).

I shot a deer in the swamp with it once, and can't recall why I let it get away, but I sure wish I still had it.
