Yes, own/carry a 1911 ... do not own a Glock.

A gun is a tool, no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.

And shepherds we shall be, for Thee, my Lord, for Thee.
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti.

Of the two I carry the 1911 but having just bought a new G19, once I take it to the range a few times, it will be carried as well. I mean, it's a Glock for crying out loud - simple and reliable. Sure, I love the 1911 but a Glock is a damn fine gun. Haters are going to hate

Glock is my department issued weapon. I carry that everywhere off duty unless it's out of state. Then I carry my personal Glock which is the same model as my issued one. Occasionally I wear sweats when I go work out. In those instances I'll put my .38 in a pocket holster.
When I retire I'll re-think my carry options.

We had Glocks as issue weapons. There were instances when slides flew off during training, coatings peeling off due to certain solvents being used which caused malfunctions. Glock came down and replaced the pistols immediately (great customer service) and in so many words asked that we refrain from "getting the word out" about the issues. I'm glad that the flying slides etc., happened during training and not in an actual situation. I've never had an issue with the 1911 platform, or even the Ruger P90 which is ugly, but works reliably. I personally am not a fan of the (plastic piece of sh!t) Glock. I know the majority of police departments are equipped with Glocks, but that's because Glock made a deal swapping out the old department weapons one for one, basically for free. With the budget constraints the police departments had, they jumped on the deal, not because they were the better gun, but because they were free.

I carry a G17 daily. Two spare mags. Gives me, with one extended mag, fifty four rounds on board. My rounds are either Winchester Ranger T's or Federal HST, both in 147 grain. I have ran this G17 over 100K rounds, never replaced even one spring, and the barrel is not shot out. The G17 is rarely cleaned. Much as I love 1911's, they just cannot do what a G17 can.

I bought a Block once, it lasted about 6 months only because I really tried to like it, before I dumped it.

G19, G21SF and a G30. Compare that to my Dan Wesson CCO and my Dan Wesson Patriot? Hmmmm.... which to carry.. .which to carry... Dan Wesson wins ... again. All this said, IF IF IF... I had to bug out fast and furious.... the G19 and 21 would be in the bug out bag. Why? simply this. They are reliable. Yes my Dan Wessons are reliable also. But the Glocks would come too. Just sayin'

OH... what do I carry? Dan Wesson CCO
