Default 1st USPSA match

So I mentioned last week that I took the orientation class so that I could start shooting IDPA or USPSA comp matches at my local range.

Well today was my first USPSA competition and I'll do my best to give my AAR. That stands for After Action Review for you non military types

So here are the pros and cons of my first match.

Pros:

I had fun, I had a lot of fun!

I had zero warnings.

I ddin't get DQ'd. (One guy from my class did on his very first stage...bummer. He grabbed his gun before the RO told him to make ready.)

All my reloads went bang!

I had fun.

I wore my Cotep shirt

Cons:

My scoring sucked.

I let my ego get in the way of common sense and shot way too fast and my accuracy suffered. I kept telling myself before each stage to slow down, but that went out the window as soon as the buzzer went off.

Did I mention my scoring sucked?

Yes, I am my own worst critic, but I have to be honest. If I were to have walked off the range today saying "man, I did great", while it wouldn't be a lie, it wouldn't be entirely true.

So, I look forward to more practice and another match next month. I vow to slow down and go for accuracy in that match.

Maybe next month, I'll bring a camera and try to have someone take some action shots.

All in all, it was a good day....nobody got hurt and I had a great time.

Thanks for reading
