Default The Okeechobee Marshals Meet 06/09/12

Howdy Y'all, again.......
I started writing this thread early their A.M., but my carrier (AT&T) dropped the line and I am starting over again.
Well, Yesterday, started off again with heavy rain. I loaded the car at 6A.M. wearing my Cowboy gear and rain coat. Drove the 1/5 hr. trip in the rain the OK Coral for the days shooting with the Okeechobee Marshals. By the time i reached the range, the rain had stopped and the temp was a very nice70 with a little overcast. Nice for shooting and photography. Did I mention, that I live in Florida, and if you LIKE the weather, just stick around an hour. That is right as the morning went on, the sun came up and it quickly went to 90, by 10A.M.
So be it, let the fun begin.......
We usually have about 45-50 shooters on the second Saturday Shoot, but because of the weather, a lot of shooters stayed home in their nice little red river jamies sitting by the fire and watching re-runs of The Rifleman.........
Us, real Cowboys, set up into two posses (one for "the Wild Bunch", 1 45 Auto, 1 shotgun + 1 rifle) the other posse went on to shoot Six Gun (2 of them) + shotgun + Rifle.
Did, I mention, that when you have someone reloading for you, you should always check your ammo*****
Well, I did not and I had a bag of 45's that were not sized correctly and would not chamber in my 45. I did however, find 5 rounds that did go in and WHAT A MISTAKE
On the first stage, i drew my 45 and the hammer would not move , it did take a little doing and I did get through it, but the time was Oh, well S***t.
Another shooter who also reloads my 38 Marlin came over and handed me a bag of 45's that were sized correctly and saved the day for me.
The grass was a little wet, and not wanting to throw my back out again, I decided to go easy and just have FUN.
We have the State Championship coming up in January 2013 in St Augustine, Fla., and I need to get as much practice in as I can (shooting indoors is not the same as walking and shooting the stages outdoors), so I take every chance I can get to get it right.
We also had a guest with us dusting our shoot and she is the one GABBY FRANCO from Miami , a friend who shoots Steel Challenge with us and was a competitor on the last season of TOP SHOT (see Video, I made of her).
She said after her shoot that even though the targets seem to be closer that normal, shooting 4 guns in the correct order on the targets is not as easy as it seems. She will be joining us in the future for more Cowboy (or Cowgirl as the case may be) because it is very additive to dress up and for most of us live out our childhood dreams of being Cowboys.
What is better than to strap on two guns, with a shotgun in one hand and a rifle in the other and go to town.
That is all for now, sand below you will find two video's one of Gabby and one of your poster (:face palm:) i could not stop laughing after I saw it and I post it anyway.
Until next Time
Stay Safe and keep Shooting
Gary
