Default Thank you Greg Derr

When a friend of mine opened a gun shop in Armada, MI I went to see it the Saturday before he opened. It ended up costing me some dollars - to be his first paying customer. I saw promise in what I bought; an Pre-Seventies Series Colt 1911 in .45 with an extra top end in .38 Super. Remove the .45 top end, change the ejector, install the .38 Super and bang away. It was however not pretty. Worn nickel and chrome....I also got a well used Pachmayr Range Box, ammo, and magazines.

After I saved my dollars (and another Colt Series 70 Government Model) and researched some of the top gun smiths in the US. I settled on Greg Derr of Derr Precision; Former US Olympic Shooting Team Member, Professional Photographer, and a top "smith" (and have his permission to use the photo posted below). I asked Greg to make them functional and look nice. In my opinion Greg ran with it and made me a great combo. He made it so I don't have to use the ejector pin to hold the ejector in place; thus making it easier to swap tops. It is a great shooter in both calibers!
