I'm just curious as to what the emphasis was for Navy Corpsmen... to be with the ground force Marine units on front lines, or "in the rear" ground support (i.e. battalion aide, or FOBs) or was it strictly off-shore support on a ship? Of course, the Army had medics accompany ground units right onto the perimeters, front lines, etc.. I just wondered if the Navy expected its corpsmen to do the same for Marine units.

They sent us to HM-8404-Medical Field Service Technician/FMF Combat Corpsman
Did 2 Tours on the Ground, and yes, Crazy Doc Mosier Volunteered for the 2nd Tour. They usually picked the top of Class Yes, I was in the top 5% of my class.
What it took to be in Nam was a strong faith in yourself and the Marines, yes we had some kids that were afraid but everyone was. But we always stuck together, as they say today we had each others "6".
