Default Xmas Gift for Son.

My son (age 24) is a casual shooter.

After watching the show "Westworld", he had expressed an interest in some of the guns used in the series.

So, with some vacation time, a few supplies picked up from Hobby Lobby, I put this together.

Picked up a box from Hobby Lobby - It was a regular unfinished pine box with hinges and a latch.

I took the box apart and sanded up to 2000 grit. Applied ebony stain to the grooves in the lid, then masked them off and finished the rest of the box with gunstock stain.

Applied four coats of polyurethane to the inside and outside of the box to seal it, sanding between coats.

Picked up a piece of rigid polystyrene foam and cut it with a saw to fit the box.

Glued a piece of soft foam sheet on top of the rigid foam, traced and cut the pattern out of the soft foam and added relief cuts to the rigid foam underneath.

Laid a piece of red satin fabric over the foam, tucked and secured it inside the pattern cuts, wrapped the excess around the foam block, then put it all in the box.

Then I added the gift: A Heritage Rough Rider.

Outer Front:

Outer Top:

Inside 1: Pistol, 22 Mag Cylinder, box of Xmas 2016 Ammo

Inside 2: A Closer Shot.
