First AR

I gave myself an early birthday present this morning and drove up to Cabela's in Hamburg. I had looked online earlier and chose a DPMS Recon in 5.56/223.

I know next to nothing about AR platforms, but have been researching the forums and websites. I am happy with it for now.

Thanks Mike. From what I read, I can easily exceed, or even double, the purchase price with modifications. I bought this model because of the Magpul pieces. (Stock, BUIS, handrail, stainless steel barrel.) I was looking at an entry level one, but with the add ons, this seemed a better deal. I can use the iron sights for awhile, but eventually I will want optics.

Nice choice...DPMS made in my homestate of Minnesota...I have one and love it but the price will add up fast for 'extras"...they are a killer..

Very nice. I like it. I'm also getting my first AR for my birthday this month. I know this because like you the giver is also the receiver.
