Not to detract from
dwsmithjr's thread on his Delta Elite; I recently (after almost a year's wait) got my Colt Delta Elite (1st Generation) back from long-time 1911 Custom Smith Chuck Warner.
One day Chuck asked me if I had an AR Style Rifle in .308 - I did; a Sig 716 (still have that beast) and a DPMS AP-4, their version of a .308 M4. I told Chuck he could have the AP-4 if he would work some magic on an idea I had for the Delta Elite. I have both the 1st Generation and a stainless 2nd Generation Delta Elite. My "idea" was to make the Delta into a MEU SOC Clone. Although Chuck didn't replace every part on my Delta he stripped the inners out and replaced them including one of his 10mm barrels, ambidextrous safety, new hammer, sear, new main spring housing with lanyard ring, an old school King's barrel bushing, and a new front and rear sights. Chuck also blended the grip safety. The gun is a joy to shoot; well worth the wait for it. Here's some gratuitous photos of it: The first targets with this pistol:

That’s a nice pistol! Worth the wait is right. Great shooting too.
