S&W M&P Sport II
I have wanted an M&P AR for a while but $1200 for the 15 was a bit steep for me. The Sport II looked like a good compromise. Different barrel, BCG, and handrail. Also the attached trigger guard but that is a plus for the Sport II. MSRP is $729 so I figured I would be close but not quite for a while. Then last Sunday Shooters in Jacksonville runs an ad during the Jaguars game. M&P Sport II for $499! I like it. That Sunday Las Vegas happens. I thought there would either be a run and they would be out of stock or the price would get hiked. I kept checking during the week and they had stock but the sale was promo for the week. Finally on Friday I met up with Mike (AFJuvat) and was able to go pick it up. We hit an indoor range and shot up some targets. Got to fire his monster .44 Magnum! That is a beast! Also took my SBR to try the magnifier for the red dot I got from . Thanks again ! That worked just as advertised. I will need to take it outdoors and at longer than 25 yards to really know what it can do but it did the job.
The M&P Sport II was fired off hand or elbows resting on the podium. Iron sights and a breezy target floating in the air circulation system. Two mags or so and the result is one well ventilated paper target! Shot great, next range trip will try to use a bag and see just how well I can shoot! I have a few ARs but I built all those. This was my first factory AR. Not a lot of difference performance wise from the ones I built, similar components but this one has a lifetime warranty and the backing of Smith & Wesson. Also for the record no it was NOT a panic buy. I finally had the cash and a price I could live with at the same time. There was a little thinking that if I didn't get it now, it might be harder to find or not at that price but for the most part I was happy to get it. Besides I have never regretted buying a gun but have regretted not buying one in the past.

I love mine, but it did not come with the magpul foregrip. I had to buy mine afterwards.

Cool. I have the original Sport and after I dialed it in, it’s a tack driver. I swapped the foregrip out for rails but I haven’t put anything up there yet except a bi-pod.
