Good morning to one and all. First, thanks for accepting me into this body. Searching through the site, this looks like a group after my own heart.

Who am I? A (sigh) 62 year old, retired (first year of retirement under my belt)veteran of 38 years of teaching Middle School science and instructing High School students to drive in the summer (I still do this because it's so much fun). I started shooting pistols for the first time in my life a little over 2 years ago, just after I knew that I wanted to retire in a year. I knew I needed to have things to do/hobbies (my wife pointed this out, too) and a buddy suggested that we get into pistols. I came from a family that valued gun ownership and use (my father was LEO, a marksman, and a hunter) and I almost exclusively shot rifles (antique and modern)...I don't remember ever shooting a pistol. When I went off to college, I was so busy studying and getting married that I never shot a round for 42 years. So I was excited to get back to shooting and boy was it GREAT!!

My first pistol was a new S&W M&P9 9mm. I liked it and was perfectly happy with it until...a fellow shooter let me shoot his Kimber 1911. I was hooked and I jumped in hook, line, and sinker. My wife still asks me why, having only 2 hands would I need to now own more than 2 1911's. I'm sure YOU FOLKS understand!

I've been married 41 happy years, have 2 "kids", a married daughter and a living at home son, and 2 dashounds. I'm into sports cars, club racing and car shows ('03 350Z, ported and polished, 305 HP at the rear wheels) which has suffered a bit, time wise, as I've been shooting so much. My wife and I have Ballroom Dancing specializing in Latin dances as a mutual hobby (and don't even think of trying to conceal carry when doing a Samba with hip rolls).

Yours,

Rick
