Default It is here!!!!

Well, after YEARS of waiting, literally (poke, poke...jab, jab)............. The lined Lasco holster Lane and I have discussed numerous times arrived! I knew pics were obligatory. Included is also a picture of the first commercially purchased holster he made. Do you think he has honed his skills any? This thing is tighter than a frog's butt in a hail storm, too.

My one concern is the front sight. The front sight doesn't ride between the small groove where the front and back portion are sewn together and formed. The top channel is offset some and the front sight pushes out against the leather the entire length of the holster everytime the pistol goes in the holster. When the pistol is fully seated in the holster there is actually a slight bump where the sight is pushing out, too. Hopefully, this will remedy itself after the break-in period. If it is something I should worry about, I know you guys will let me know. Now, here we go:

Boy, that first picture takes me back. In the early years, I was using a much lighter, lower grade leather - with my supplier now, I'm getting much better leather at virtually the same cost. I was hand stitching everything - it litterally took me 4 hours to stitch a holster. Now, it's about 30 minutes if I don't get distracted or stitch my fingers to the holster.

I've also changed to better quality dyes. The first holster was with a water based dye that was supposed to give it an antiqued look. Looked great until it wore off. Ah, live and learn.

On the front sight - I don't put anything on the top of the gun or front sight when I mold it. I know some guys do. Would it be better if I did? Maybe a small dowel along the top to make a channel or something?

I'm always looking for ways to make a better holster - give me your honest thoughts.

Thanks for your support Larry!
