Post your favorite,safe loads
Okay, since is obviously sleeping late today, I'll get this started.
But first, the obligatory safety-warnings; 1.) Approach all loads carefully, starting 10% below the list charge and watch for pressure signs such as flattened or cratered primers and hard ejection. 2.) If at all possible stick to the primer manufacturer and powder listed. If using lead bullets in a load stated for jacketed bullets, remember to drop charge-weight by one(1) grain. Lead bullets produce more resistance and pressure than jacketed bullets and typically do not produce as high a velocity. Okay; here's some of mine. Handgun loads .38Spl- 4.0 grains of Unique with a Winchester Small-pistol primer and a 158grain lead SWC. This load developes average velocity of 775fps in my six-inch K-38 and produces very small groups with monotonous regularity. .357magnum- 13 grains of 2400,WSP primer, 158gr.Hardcast SWC, medium crimp. does 1350 in my six-inch Model 28s. .357magnum- 17 grains of Lilgun, WSP primer, 158grain Hardcast SWC. This is a max load and should be approached carefully. does 1450fps in my six-inch Model 28. 44Magnum- 18 grains 2400, WLP primer, 240grain hardcast SWC, heavy crimp. This load does 1300 fps in my six-inch DW M44 and is a good all-around load. 45ACP- 5grains of HP-38(WW231 can be substituted as the powders are identical), WLP primer, 230grain jacketed RN. Factory-equivelent load, does 815fps in my RIA. Rifle loads .30Carbine- 15grains of WW296, WSR primer, 110grain FMJ.Equivelent Military load, does 1975fps at 12 feet from muzzle. .30Carbine- 14 grains of 2400, WSR primer, 110grain FMJ, another Military equivelent load. Does 1950fps at 12 feet from muzzle. 30-06- 47.3grains of IMR-4895, WLR primer, 150grain spitzer.OAL-3.30". Does 2705fps in my Garands, fairly accurate. 30-06- 47grains of IMR-4895, WLR primer, 168grain SMK, 3.340 OAL, very accurate to 500 yards, velocity 2650fps. 30-06- 46.3grains of IMR-4895, WLR primer, 175grain SMK, 3.340 OAL, velocity is 2625fps very accurate long-range round, supersonic to 1100 meters. All my 30-06(M2Ball) and Match loads are made with Military brass bearing HXP headstamps. Be sure all primers are seated slightly below flush. Uniform, clean and swage all primer-pockets before priming.Deburr inside of flashole. Full-length resize with Standard-Base Dies and trim to min. length of 2.484" No crimp.
