Where have you trained?
Have any of the members here had any formal training? Do you compete in USPSA or IDPA or some other shooting sport?
Myself, I haven't had much in the way of training. Went to a school many moons ago and forgot most of what was taught, then my stints in the Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and the Army National Guard. I look forward to getting some formal training soon so I can utilize it in the Single Stack division in USPSA.

I have taken the 250 course at Gunsite. I absolutely loved it and plan to take the 350 course in the near future. IMHO Gunsite is in a class by itself when it comes to firearms training. They do not teach competition based classes. I am fortunate that I have a friend who is the Coach of the UT shooting team and an world class competition shooter who coaches and trains me for competition shooting. For free. The Gunsite 250 course will give you a great basis for USPSA shooting. Much of their training is much more intense than what you will find in a match. When you have completed the course you will be very proficient in the use of a handgun to protect yourself and family.
