High Standard "The Victor" On The Way!
I can't hardly stand it! I just bought a very nice High Standard "The Victor", one of the early Hamden guns with the 5.5" barrel and barrel weight. I'm hoping that it comes in soon so I can get my grubby mitts on it! I've been wanting one of these guns for years and just could never get myself to spend the kind of money that they are bringing these days. I finally got what I consider a good deal on one. My old man and I are having target 22 wars with each other. He has an older S&W Model 41 with the original longer barrel that has never been used. He bought the shorter barrel and that's what he uses. Then he recently bought a High Standard Victor, but one of the later models from East Hartford with the screw takedown barrel and he's been rubbing it in my face. Now I've got one up on him! I can't wait to get some pictures of this baby and get some rounds through it! Just wanted to share my excitement!

Very nice, I have always loved the High Standard Victor look. Great condition, go out and do some serious shooting now, or at least a lot of fun shooting! Steven

I predict you will love the way it shoots.
The only drawback to those guns are the mags. Bob |
Just back from a fun range day with The Victor today. Let me tell you, that baby is SWEET! I've got several nice 1911s and revolvers, but none of them hold a candle to how sweet this little gun shoots! I was completely blown away with the trigger and action. I think I got a good mag with mine because I didn't have any feed problems like some people have experienced. The gun is simply amazing. I went through 350 rounds of ammo today and could have easily shot more, but that was all that I brought with me.
The only minor issue I had was that occasionally, it would eject a round and chamber a new round, but the gun would not re-cock. I would have to rack the slide back again to cock it. Any idea why this would happen? I could just be because the gun needed to be cleaned or because it hadn't been shot in so long. |
