My first pony, 1970A1T, with a PM-9 chaser

These came into the local shop. I have been thinking about a pony for a while. This, Spoke to my soul.

The local shop posted it as coming in yesterday. More can be found here:
http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?p=4888778

I saw the post and promptly parked my hind end in a chair waiting to see it.

While i was there, another almost as rare box showed up from CZ. In it were two PM-9's. I fondled one of these while waiting for the colt. The PM9, shoots fantastic. Great gun. I did oil the snot out of it and rack the slide till my arm cramped. It fed 100 rounds of remington 115 grn JHP just fine. Fit and finish is far above my older pm7, and the pm-9's i remember. The Ribbed top strap, front checkering. It is just wonderful.

pm-9 Dirty of course

I still have not fired, or rotated the cylinder on my Royal Blue Trooper MKIII..... It has been 2 years.

Caleb 04-23-2014 09:55 PM

Why? Shoot the snot out of it. :D

NAMVET72 04-23-2014 09:55 PM

Guns are meant to be shot and not become safe queens and collect dust and just sit there for you to drool all over,

I shoot the piss out of just about everything. My guns typically are not safe queens. The Trooper, and most likely this one will come out only rarely. I will say this cold fits me wonderfully, It will be harder for me to resist not shooting it.

I know the feeling. I have a nickel Colt Det Spl and a blue S&W model 10 with no turn lines. I also have a few dozen others to shoot if I get the urge so I can deal with my safe queens..

The trooper is a reblue by colt, From what i have been told when dropping it off is that Trunbull does their royal blue. Hence the 6-9 month turn around. So the hesitation for shooting it is more sentimental than monetary. It was a gift by a mentor before we moved out here to ct.

Beautiful pieces! Now go shoot the sh*t out of them!!!!!!

milkmanjoe 04-24-2014 08:50 AM

Beautiful guns!!!! Congratulations!!!!
I understand the safe queen mentality, but for some reason I recently find myself gravitating towards my queens and carrying them. Guess I broke through that barrier, now I will really enjoy my guns to the max.

I ran 200 rounds of tula steel cased through it. With 0 issues, I then ran one box of brassed cased remington umc and had a failure to eject. At this point though the gun was smoking hot. As the 200 rounds had been very fast. I will give it a pass, I had no other issues with the brass ammo after a brief cool down. I need to clean it and get some photos for you.

Grouse 04-26-2014 10:03 AM

Okay a detailed stripped clean after the first 250 rounds. I did my best to take better photos for you all.
