new from Northern California

Hi All,
found this Forum while checking out a CBOB Purchase
waiting to pick it up next week, I guess they just made it
(sn @1303xxx) I'm hoping it lives up to the reputation that you all
expect. I've had terrible luck with 4" & 4.25" 1911's

Nice board here........

Welcome!

Welcome to the forum. It's a good place and congrats on your new pistol. It sucks to have to wait for a gun doesn't it? Glad I don't have that issue.

milkmanjoe 02-24-2014 08:57 AM

Welcome....I have a friend in Sacramento, you must know him.

Welcome to the forum.

hereatsfba 02-24-2014 09:32 AM

yeah it does suck,
My daughter moved to Nevada & when we went to buy her SIG ( those youngsters love their plastic guns) this little old lady walked in, while we were deciding she bought two pocket guns and walked out with them in her shopping bag like they were shoes or something. Being from California all my life, I just LMAO.

I was living in Hawaii, mid eighties. Drinking beer with friends it came up that the boss was from California. One of the local Hawaiians blurts out...."Joe, he is from the mainland, you must know him".......never knowing there were over 25 million people on the mainland. Kinda like you knowing everybody in Sacramento

I texted him, he shoots in the forest.

I appreciated your humor.... Most people really don't realize how many people are here I think last census reported 38 million in California...that's why voting is like herding cats.

he's lucky he's got a spot..... the hardest thing for me personally to deal with is that with so darn many people around you have to shoot on controlled ranges.... where I grew up further north wilderness started 15 min away it was easy to go anywhere for range time...... Now, most of the time after a 90 min drive to get to my sons we don't feel like driving another hour into the mountains.

Welcome to the asylum. If this is your first SS DW, be sure to run it wet with a heavy viscosity oil when you break it in. DW's are very tight.

Mobil 1.....gets applause and nays

Caleb 02-24-2014 05:47 PM

Rand CLP is slipier than Ellison's snot.

Sheepdog 02-24-2014 06:31 PM

I use Mobil 1. Fp 10, Miltec should work fine. Something that will stay put for a while. They sometimes have a burr that you can't see or they will seize if not well lubed. Ask me how I know! Good insurance. I have actually done it twice.:banghead::banghead:

sdmc530 02-24-2014 07:15 PM

not to thread jack but mobile 1 belongs in your ride......

I use Wilson Combat Ultimalube Universal. Cross between a grease and an oil. Stays in place. On parts that slide I use that. on parts that rotate, I just use Hpooe's oil

Very nice. Careful with that grease, DW's are usually pretty tight.
