My S&W's

Thought I'd start populating this subforum.

My M&P40 full size with a Streamlight TLR-2 for home defense; in my gunvault in my nightstand next to my bed:

And my wife's home defense M&P9 full size, in her gunvault in her nightstand. She's got long fingers and the large palmswell works great for her. Yep, a bad guy in our home will be met with a pair of semi-auto S&W's crossfiring into a killzone :insane::

My wife's S&W 386 XL Hunter .357 mag revolver with her favorite plinker, a Browning Buck Mark Practical URX. I put a green dot on it for comfortable both eyes open shooting:

And my favorite plinker, a S&W Model 41, 7" barrel, Clark Grips, optics rail, Sightmark Green Dot Mini Shot sight. This is such a sweet shooter; well balanced with a light trigger:

Nice sets! Congrats!

AutoMag 04-04-2013 08:32 AM

Here is my only S&W. It is a Model 29-2 44 Magnum with the 8 3/8" barrel.

I forgot about this one. Still not really sure what model it is but I am checking!!! This was given to me and is missing the front sight and a side plate screw. I had it checked over by a gunsmith and that is all that is wrong with it.........well besides the finish!!!

Love that old gun . So slick . I f I were rich that the kind I would collect /

Thanks, all.

I have no idea who did the engraving, but you can tell that it was all done with hand gravers, no machine stuff, much less laser.

I spoke to Roy Jenks about it once several years ago. He said, based on my descriptions, that specific pistol was made to be engraved, and was likely done by S&W, but he couldn't be sure W/O actually having the pistol there.

I never cared enough to risk sending it away, but I think it was probably done by an individual prior to the owner receiving it.

Arley:

You don't have to be necessarily rich to collect these. I found it in a LGS that was being "managed" by two Puerto Rican transplants by way of NYC.

They were both carrying Glocks that they thought were the "best guns ever made."

Obviously not being extremely knowledgable about firearms; I offered $300.00 for the gun, and they took it.

After I got it home and was cleaning it, I found my name engraved on the backstrap, and took that as a sign that I was meant to find it that day.

In addition to the engraving, it has a serrated top bobbed hammer, wide smooth trigger, and has obviously had a very good action job.

It didn't appear to have ever been fired, and I think it was probably a retirement gift.

We have a lot of retirees in this area from up north, with a fair amount of them being retired LEO's. So I figure that the owner passed, and the gun would up with an heir that didn't know what they had, and sold it.

I also have a well worn Colt Cobra with a wonderful action that likely wound up here the same way.

$300? That's a heck of a deal .

Maybe it's just me but I am not too partial to engravings. I can appreciate the artistry but for me I like the smooth clean lines. Love the wood grips on it!

I have the original grips that came on it.

I put those boot grips on myself. Matter of fact, my other S&W now has the same grips on it, as well.

If one day I have nothing else gun related I want to buy, I might have one of the Detective Specials I just picked up engraved. However, I think I'm quite a way off from that day ;)

Perfect grips for this lovely piece, I think.. Well done. I need to visit more gun dealers rather than spending time on the internet. :)

I'd heard that M&Ps are rumored to be promiscuous. You can stop it, Ell, by storing them in condoms. Use lubed ones and presto, corrosion protection, too. nanner
