Bonus picture. As part of the bedroom redesign, we built a new closet system. One was assigned to me so ammo wouldn’t be hidden behind the shoes and etc of our closet.
The shelves are a about 24”x24” and can hold three full 50 cal ammo cans. The shelves are designed to handle 200 pounds each. https://i.imgur.com/5UV790Il.jpg Shelves of ammo. https://i.imgur.com/0yL4sVhl.jpg All of my range bags and miscellaneous stuff fit too. |
Awesome...... one of these days I will have a storage build myself, till then the clothes closet will be my tactical storage unit. Lol...

Any new mods, updates, changes, how's everything working out so far?
|
I haven’t changed anything since the last pictures. Having lived with it for a while, there are a few things I might have done differently but they’re so minor that they’re not big deals.
Both my wife and I use it daily. The only issue is it’s too humid and warm in the room. My current dehumidifying solution isn’t cutting the mustard. I don’t want to use a gold rod because it’s already too warm in that room. So any dehumidifiers that might work but don’t use heat would probably work. Just haven’t found anything yet. |
If feasible/possible and assuming it's a forced air system, do you think running a air return duct along with a heat/air duct to that gun room would help any, would keep the humidity/temp in that sealed area in line with the rest of the house ?

What’s your humidity reading? I use something similar to one of these in my safe——-> https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020670699

And one in the "gun room" in the open. Yes, I have OCD. Mine are digital with readings and history so I can see if they are changing. I know I am a bit overkill but I do highly recommend them for anyone with a gun room or a safe. I also have the golden rod heating elements in my safes too. |
