Very unique buttstock!

35 Rem doesn't get much love these days, but it's an awesome short range deer cartridge.

Nowadays if it ain't pushing mach 4, and you can't hit something 2 miles away with it, nobody wants it.

A few years ago a company in the Philippines started to manufacture a 1911 clone. The name brand of the pistols it Rock Island. Their US corporate office is in Pharump, Nevada. Rumors abounded about the source of the tooling they used to make the guns; a common rumor was they were using old Colt Tooling. Who knows? Rock Island has never answered the question!

This is a compact .45; the shop I bought it from is in Las Vegas - I probably have bought 6 Rock Islands from them so they surprised me with the custom laser engraved stocks! They were a stocking dealer and would take RIA Pistols to gun shows and after 3-4 gun shows they would put the firing pins back in them and sell them for a good discounted price. RIA treats them as a "new" gun so they are covered by the factory warranty.

Traveling yesterday so I didn’t post anything.

Here’s a Colt 1901 in .38 Colt aka .38 Long Colt, a rather anemic round. It was instrumental in helping to usher in the .45 acp. The ammo is period correct from the Frankfort Arsenal.

done traveling for a while.

Here's a complete, put together, .357 Magnum Dan Wesson...put together because the person who sold this to the gun shop said that they bought barrels along the way.

Older S&W Model 19-6 .357. It has that ridden hard put away wet look but a clean pipe and good action! The number 1200 is vibro-engraved on the inside of the frame above and below the cylinder.

A Colt Officer's Model called a King Super Target. King converted this revolver to a single action target pistol; trigger shoe, ribbed front sight, and the last picture will show their "special" touch:

King installed a mirror on the rib just aft of the front sight; it reflects light on the front sight! Kind of novel - and it works!

Yep, the lemon squeezer P7 was one of those "either you love it or hate it" deals. With the majority on the "hate it" side.

I wouldn't mind trying one out to see which side I fell on.

Several unusual features including the Barnitzke delayed blowback system.

I miss the beach, I miss the swimming pool at our rental house, I miss my wife's family (all except 1 who no matter how hard I tried not to I couldn't stop not liking the asshole!), I missed posting here! Well obviously I am back with all my knives and guns!

I may have posted the gun before but not with the stocks on them! The gun is a Colt Competition Series Government Model chambered in .38 Super.

the stocks, purportedly Ivory but I'm thinking some other type of tusk or bone; their orientation should be facing up; but they're mine, and on a gun! I like the dragon motif on a pistol grip; I mean a gun exhales fire and smoke and has a nasty bite!

When I worked as a Customs and Border Protection Officer I lived and worked in Port Huron, MI. I had a friend who wanted to sell me a Colt Revolver so I said OK. For under $300 here's what I got; a well used 1966 vintage Official Police. It had cut down target stocks on it instead of the correct stocks, it now has the right ones on it. It came with it's own JayPee open top holster as well. Removing the grips I found, hand engraved, probably with a handheld vibro-engraver PHPD 3 for the Port Huron Police Department. Checking with my contacts there no one knows where the records are for their older gun purchases. Although not pretty - it is servicel accuracy and function...

DPMS AP-4. This is a .308/7.62x51 copy of an M4. It was a great shooting rifle; in the right hands with match grade ammo it was an MOA gun. I acquired a Sig 716 so the AP-4 was redundant. I traded it to a gun smith for the work he did on my Delta Elite that I've posted earlier!

The first five years I was a CBP Officer we carried the Glock 17. It wasn't a bad duty gun; with three magazines and one in the chamber it was like carry a box +1 of 9mm ammo! We carried them with Speer Gold Dot LE 124 gr. JHP which is more then adequate for a 9mm round.

Although not a Glockaholic or fan boy I do have two Glocks. The first one I bought was a Glock 29; described a few years ago (when I bought it around 2006) and still is listed as a sub-compact on Glock's website. Hmmm a double stack, 10mm, 3.77" barrel - I can live with that sub-compact. What I like about the Model 29 is its ability to change calibers by merely switching barrels. It comes with a 10mm barrel; I bought Lone Wolf barrels in .40 S&W, .357 Siq, and 9x25 Dillon which is essentially a 10mm case necked down to 9mm. Image, if you will, a 124gr 9mm JHP at 1,600 fps! Is it any doubt which extended and ported barrel is the 9x25 Dillon? Like shooting my Coonan .357 Magnum 1911 shooting the G29 loaded with 9x25 draws a crowd!

Germany used the Spanish Civil War to hone the Air Force's skill. Most Pilots carried a pistol; many carried the Astra Model 300, chambered in 9mm Kurz, aka .380. I sold mine but here it was!

During WWII (after the Spanish Civil War) the Germans were running out of sidearms.

Franco of Spain was friendly with Germany; he agreed to sell Germany the Astra Model 600, a 9mm Parabellum copy of their 9mm Largo Astra 400. When D-Day happened Spain was no longer able to ship the guns through France to Germany.

After WWII Germany petitioned the Allied Occupation Commission to allow their Police to carry sidearms and long arms. Spain said hey we have these...9mm pistols; and then sold them to Germany a second time! Those smart Spaniards!

H&R made several variations of this rifle; the Marine Corps used the Model MC-58 and variants as primary trainers before moving to the M1 Garand.

Mine is a Model 150 "Leatherneck .22 Long Rifle. In weight is is similar to the M1 Garand; the bolt is underneath the barrel...
