I thought I was being original, LOL. On mine, the thumb depression in front of the handle is functional since there won't be a top guard. I'm not sure what the purpose of a thumb depression is when you can't get to it  https://i.imgur.com/45WX5OB.jpg http://www.cotep.org/forum/picture.p...&pictureid=869 |

From my friend, Fred Rowe, Bethel Ridge Forge, Ohio.
Fred's twist damascus; the black, shiny spacers in the handle are from a source I never would have thought about - bowling balls! http://iwantthatknife.com/Gallery/al...t_damascus.jpg |

Coffin Handle Bowie. It's finally finished. D2 steel, golden ebony handle. Since D2 is near stainless, the scale from heat treating is not too bad looking. I decided to keep it and just polish it up a tad instead of polishing it off. Looks kind of like color case hardening.
This is for a friend in Oklahoma. College buddy actually! I promised to make him one in the 1970s but quit knifemaking before I could get to it. https://i.imgur.com/P0fxI3O.jpg https://i.imgur.com/cqqE17G.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BxeJMz3.jpg http://www.cotep.org/forum/picture.p...&pictureid=888 |

A special knife with a "back story". One of the last knife shows we attended was the 2014 Dale Warther Memorial Knife Show, formerly known as the Western Reserve Knife Collector's Club Show; which had been held at the County Fairgrounds in Dover, Ohio.
At this show (as all of them) there is a banquet for all the show participants; and each "plate" is given a raffle ticket; where my wife and I sat down there were two tickets on my plate. I gave one of them back; as luck would have it the first ticket pulled (for the grand prize) was the one I gave back! They pulled another ticket - shazaam - it was the ticket I kept! The Grand Prize, was a Damascus Thumb Knife made by Dan McMullen. It has an engraved plate, commemorating Dale Warther who had been a major player in putting on the show every year. Sadly Dale passed away unexpectedly and too young. After holding on to this knife for the last 5 years I decided that it was time to give it back to the Club, to be given away at the banquet; with the proviso that every year it would be brought back to the awards dinner and given away as the grand prize. Tomorrow night it will be given away at the dinner; we had planned to drive to Ohio from Texas for the show but I had surgery two weeks ago and the Dr. said no travel...darn it. So here's the Dan McMullen damascus commemorative knife. It has a stabilized sycamore wood base but I didn't keep any of those photographs. http://iwantthatknife.com/Gallery/al...r_mcmullen.jpg |

Buenos Aires, Argentina...Beautiful City, lots of people, culture, delicious food - excellent beef. Knifes and Knifemakers.
Several times when my wife traveled to Buenos Aires to visit her son she would go meet with Ruben Calo, a local knife maker in Buenos Aires and buy me a knife. The first time I went to BA with here we went to Ruben's home where he showed me his shop and what existing inventory of knives he had. I bought a butterfly knife he made and then he gifted me an Argentine Chef's knife; one of the first knives he made. Little did we know that within 6-8 months he would succumb to lung cancer. Here's the Balisong he made: http://iwantthatknife.com/Gallery/al...uns/calo_2.jpg http://iwantthatknife.com/Gallery/al...uns/calo_1.jpg and here's the chef's knife: http://iwantthatknife.com/Gallery/al...s/calo_big.jpg |
No pics in your last post, Chief.

Rick - I can see them...you couldn't!
Fixed. I had copied "attachments" from another discussion forum. |
I can see them now, Chief.

Jim "Treeman" Behring has quite a repertoire of different styles of knives that he makes - from Scagel Style to Tactical Style including a knife that he made with input from one of the SEAL Teams. Here's one of his tactical knives, big, bad, and scary sharp; he calls this one his LRRP Spearpoint:

Jens ANSO of Denmark makes some very well regarded custom knives. He even uses the left over bits of the stainless damascus to make smaller knives. Here's one such knife; less then 3" overall length:

Here's another WWII Theater Knife; a Marble's knife re-handled with plexiglas. Although the actual knife dates to the WWII time frame without any documentation to "certify" it's an actual WWII theater knife there always exist the possibility that it isn't!
A good looking knife otherwise! http://iwantthatknife.com/Gallery/al...es/marbles.jpg |

A little late - here's a commercially made (by Seto in Japan) for Taylor Cutlery. Taylor Cutlery and Parker Knife Company were competitors as Second Tier Knife Companies - behind Case and Buck Knives.
This knife has a nice Gold Plated Dragon engraved on the blade and the handle is second cut stag. http://iwantthatknife.com/Gallery/al...seto_tanto.jpg |

My second wife was a Scrimshander. Without any "formal" training in art other then High School Art Classes she has a steady hand and a sharp eye for detail. She scrimshawed my Coast Guard Cutterman's Device (meaning more then eight years do Sea Duty) on this Parker Cutlery bone handled top lock:

Something a little bit different; a Sword Cane.
In 2007 I attended the Blade Show in Atlanta. I brought some knives for A T Barr to sell for me and as I wandered through the show I stopped and talked to Bill Johnson, a friend and retired USAF Chief Master Sargent. Something a bit different for me is this sword cane I bought from Bill. The wood is ebony; I replaced the plastic HD cue ball with an antique ivory cue ball that I bought from Boone Trading Company before the ivory ban went into effect. http://iwantthatknife.com/Gallery/al.../johnson_1.jpg |
That cane is badass!
