Although I've shown the Fred Rowe knife that my ex-wife scrimshawed I haven't posted the first custom knife I bought. Similar in style but smaller, is this Fred Rowe knife - damascus, stag, copper spacers and butt cap, and I believe ambonya burl wood handle.

Here is my latest knife, a chef's knife in AEB-L steel hardened to 62 Rockwell. Handle is stabilized spalted oak from the back yard.
It's a prototype for knives I want to make for my three sisters for Christmas. https://i.imgur.com/hhYYmbv.jpg Who knew rotten wood could be so beautiful, LOL https://i.imgur.com/hdHMrsk.gif |
Love the look of that handle. ^^^^^^

The Cactus Juice and a finish coat of epoxy varnish bring out the colors and contrasts better than anything else I've tried, and I've tried a lot of things. https://i.imgur.com/hdHMrsk.gif |

At a knife show in Michigan around 2005 or so Roger "Mudbone" Jones walked up to my wife and I and said both of you give me a penny. OK we did and Roger handed both my wife and I a handmade knife, made from a file. He said its tradition that when someone gives you a knife you give them a penny.
Never for sale, here's mine: http://iwantthatknife.com/Gallery/al.../jone_file.jpg |

Mike Stewart and his crew at Bark River Knife and Tool in Escanaba, MI make some very nice knives. My ex-wife does excellent scrimshaw; here's a combination of both!
