+P 230 HST's
Best price I've found is at: http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...5202&pd=294429 -OR a little higher- http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/produc...p-hollow-point I've ordered from and been happy with both of them in the past. |
Ranger t if I have surplus from work or I load hornady loads

speer gold dot and hornady critical defense
just got some ranier jhp i am going to try. |
I think we put too much emphasis on hollow point rounds in the 45acp. Ball ammo has proven itself to be very effective for over 100 years. And I have yet to see a 1911 fail to function with it (or very dern few).
But that's just me. |
I settled on Winchester 230grain Premium SXT JHPs. Basically, they're a different-colored Black Talon. Since Black Talons are Collector's level cartridges(Last I checked they were going for about $65.00 a box), the SXTs are the next best thing.
As for reloading, I've tried so far; Hornady Crit.Def. bullets, Hornady XTPs, Gold Dots and some Federal bullet. All failed one way or another. None of the mentioned bullets gave decent, consistant performance, even when driven at 900+FPS. |
Anybody using the Winchester PDX1 Defender in 230gr?

I should now have enough milk jugs for some expansion tests with them, and will report the results here. Grizz |

I like your choice and carry same. Use Hydra Shok in 380, 9mm, 40 s&w as well.
